Home remedy for cockroaches at home
The aroma of ground coffee is good for luring cockroaches from their dark corners in your house. Hence acts as an efficient way to naturally getting rid of these pests. Fill some glass jars and place wet coffee ground inside paper cups and put them in the pot. Put the jars around areas you spot cockroaches and empty content of the jar in the morning. Repeat for a couple of days.
Oil or powder made of neem is a great alternative for synthetic insect control methods. Neem contains highly volatile elements which can deter insect from coming into your home. They are also less toxic and cheaper economically compared to chemical repellents. Put some neem oil in a spray bottle then add water till the bottle is full. Spray at night around the area. Alternatively, you can sprinkle Neem powder around the area before sleeping.
Makrut lime essential oil
Oil from leaves of this plant that is also known as kaffir lime repels roaches. Kaffir lime leaf contains seven different essential oils making it an excellent repellent for cockroaches. Add this oil to some water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray areas where you spot cockroaches at night and repeat until they are no more. Peppermint oil is also useful in a similar manner
Diatomaceous earth is a non-toxic way of getting rid of roaches since it is useful as a gentle abrasive. It is suitable for hidden areas like behind appliances where there are congregations of cockroaches. Insects that come into contact with its sharp particle die as a result of damage in their exoskeleton.
This herb is another natural cockroach repellent. It contains an active ingredient, nepetalactone that gives it the repellency property. Essential oil from catnip can also act as a repellant for most household pests. Putting fresh leaves of catnip herb into small porous sachets and setting the bags in the area where you see cockroaches helps to eliminate them.
Cockroaches reproduce very fast and as such measures should be put in place to remove them quickly when they are still in small numbers. Chemical repellents are effective but tend to be toxic, so these home remedies are safe for use.
